Hard Drive Cloning

Are you looking to upgrade your computer’s performance? Hard Drive Cloning to an SSD can make a world of difference. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process using Macrium Reflect Free, even if you’re not a tech expert. Let’s get started!

Things you will need

• A working Windows 7/10/11 machine
• An SSD drive suitable for your space requirements
• A USB to SATA cable
• The tools / knowledge to swap out your drive in your device

Step 1: Download and Install Macrium Reflect Free

Begin by downloading and installing Macrium Reflect Free. Follow these easy steps:

1. Visit the Macrium Reflect Free download page.
2. Click “Download” to get the software.
3. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your PC.

Step 2: Launch Macrium Reflect Free

Once the installation is complete, launch Macrium Reflect Free from your desktop icon or Start Menu.

Step 3: Create Rescue Media (Optional but Recommended)

Prepare for the unexpected by creating rescue media:

1. Click “Other Tasks” on the left.
2. Choose “Create Rescue Media.”
3. Follow the prompts to create a bootable USB drive or external hard drive.

Step 4: Start Hard Drive Cloning Process

In the main window of Macrium Reflect, click “Clone this disk” under “Backup Tasks.”

Step 5: Select Source and Target Drives

Choose your source hard drive and proceed:

1. Check the box next to your source drive (the one you’re cloning).
2. Click “Clone this disk.”

Step 6: Choose Destination Drive

Select your new SSD as the destination for the cloning process and click “Next.”

Step 7: Configure Cloning Options

Unless you have specific needs, keep the default settings and click “Next.”

Step 8: Review and Confirm

Double-check your selections:

1. Verify your source and target drives.
2. Click “Finish” to start the cloning process.

Step 9: Hard Drive Cloning Process

Watch Macrium Reflect work its magic. This may take some time.

Step 10: Replace Hard Drive with SSD

Complete the hardware transition:

1. Shut down your PC.
2. Swap the old hard drive with the newly cloned SSD.
3. Power on your computer.

Step 11: Hard Drive Cloning Success

Ensure everything works smoothly with your SSD. Your computer should be faster now.
